Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9775 — he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah

حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولُ اللهِ، أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: «إِقَامَةُ الصَّلَاةِ لِوَقْتِهَا، وَبِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ، وَالْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ»
قُلْتُ: أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَشَرُّ؟ قَالَ: «أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِخَالِقِكَ نِدًّا، وَأَنْ تَقْتُلَ وَلَدَكَ أَنْ لَا يَأْكُلَ مَعَكَ، أَوْ تَزْنِيَ حَلِيلَةَ جَارِكَ» ، وَنَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ
قُلْتُ: أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَشَرُّ؟ قَالَ: «أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِخَالِقِكَ نِدًّا، وَأَنْ تَقْتُلَ وَلَدَكَ أَنْ لَا يَأْكُلَ مَعَكَ، أَوْ تَزْنِيَ حَلِيلَةَ جَارِكَ» ، وَنَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, which deed is the most excellent? He said: "Establishing the prayer at its time, kindness to parents, and jihad in the path of Allah."
I said: Which deed is the worst? He said: "That you set up a rival to your Creator, that you kill your child for fear that it will eat with you, or that you commit adultery with your neighbour's wife." And concerning this the Qur'an was revealed.
