Masruq narrates: When Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up (having finished the prayer), we would sit after him and make the people firm in their recitation; then, when we stood up, we would pray (two rak'ahs). This reached him, so we went in to him, and he said: "Do you place upon the people a burden that has not been placed upon them? They will see you and think that it is a Sunnah. If you must do it, then do it in your houses."
Sulayman (al-A'mash) said: Amr bin Murrah also narrated this same report to us through Abu Ubaydah from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him).
