Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) said: After Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) had stood up (having finished the prayer), we used to remain sitting in the mosque, making the people firm in their recitation; then, when we intended to go back, we would pray two rak'ahs. This reached Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: "Do you place upon the people a burden that Allah has not placed upon them? They will see you praying and will come to regard it as obligatory upon themselves. If you must do it, then do it in your houses."
