يزيد بن عبد الله بن الشخير، عن عثمان
Yazid bin Abdullah bin al-Shikhkhir from Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8336 — he complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، أَنَّهُ: شَكَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَسْوَسَةَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، فَقَالَ: " ذَاكَ شَيْطَانٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ: خَنْزَبٌ، فَإِذَا وَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا فَلْيَتْفُلْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ثَلَاثًا وَلْيَتَعَوَّذْ بِاللهِ مِنْهُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that he complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) of whispering (waswasah) during prayer, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is a devil called Khanzab. When one of you senses anything of him, let him spit (lightly) to his left three times and seek refuge in Allah from him."
