Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8283 — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade

حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ رَاشِدٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، قَالَ: «رَدَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ التَّبَتُّلَ» وَلَوْ أَجَازَ لَهُ التَّبَتُّلَ لَاخْتَصَيْنَا "
Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) from tabattul, and had he (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted him tabattul, we would have castrated ourselves."
