Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8227 — the Prophet ﷺ forbade us to fast one day

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الزِّئْبَقِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ الْيَمَامِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفِ بْنِ حَبَّانَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ «نَهَى أَنْ نتَقَدْمَ قَبْلَ رَمَضَانَ بِصَوْمِ يَوْمٍ حَتَّى يَرَوُا الْهِلَالَ أَوْ تَفِيَ الْعِدَّةُ، ثُمَّ لَا نُفْطِرُ حَتَّى يَرَوْهُ أَوْ تَفِي الْعِدَّةُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us to fast one day ahead of Ramadan (as a precaution), until we sight the new moon or the count is completed, and then (forbade) that we stop fasting until we sight it or the count is completed.
