Abdullah bin al-Nu'man (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated: Qays bin Talq (may Allah have mercy on him) came to me in Ramadan, when I had already withdrawn my hand from my suhur out of fear of (the onset of) dawn. I said to him: Uncle! If there were any part of the night left for you, I would take you inside and you would eat some food and have something to drink with me. He said: Take (me inside). So we went inside, and I placed before him tharid, meat and nabidh. He ate and drank, and he compelled me (to eat) as well, so I ate and drank with him while I feared that dawn had come. Then he said: My father, Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), told me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat and drink, and do not let the bright light rising upwards (the false dawn) deceive you; rather keep eating and drinking until the redness (the true dawn) spreads across before you." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand.
