حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، وَعَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا مُلَازِمُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَجِيبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ طَلْقِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: جَلَسْنَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَاءَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ، فَقَالَ: «مَا لَكُمْ قَدِ اصْفَرَّتْ أَلْوَانُكُمْ، وَعَظُمَتْ بُطُونُكُمْ، وَظَهَرَتْ عُرُوقُكُمْ؟» قَالُوا: أَتَاكَ سَيِّدُنَا، فَسَأَلَكَ عَنْ شَرَابٍ كَانَ لَنَا مُوَافِقًا، فَنَهَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ، وَكُنَّا بِأَرْضٍ وَبِيئَةٍ وَخِمَةٍ، قَالَ: «فَاشْرَبُوا مَا بَدَا لَكُمْ»
Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when the delegation of Abd al-Qays came, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is the matter with you, that your complexions have turned yellow, your bellies have swollen and your veins have become prominent?" They said: Our chief came to you and asked you about a drink that suited us, and you forbade him from it, and we live in a land that is plague-ridden and unwholesome. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then drink whatever you wish."
