حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْقَزَّازُ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، ثنا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ خَيْثَمٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ، شَهِدَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ، عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُصَلِّي فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ، فَلَمْ يَقُلْ شَيْئًا، فَلَمَّا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ «طَابَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ ثَوْبَيْهِ، فَصَلَّى فِيهِمَا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about a man praying in a single garment, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said nothing. Then, when the iqamah for the prayer was called, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) put his two garments together and prayed in them.
