حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْخَبَائِرِيُّ، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ ضَمُرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ أَنَّهُ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ، حُلَّتَانِ مِنْ حُلَلِ الْيَمَنِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَتَرَى ثَوْبَيْكَ هَذَيْنِ مُدْخِلَيْكَ الْجَنَّةَ؟» قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِ اسْتَغْفَرْتَ لِي لَا أَقْعُدُ حَتَّى أَنْزَعَهُمَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِضَمُرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ» فَانْطَلَقَ مُسْرِعًا حَتَّى نَزَعَهُمَا
Sayyiduna Damrah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing two garments of a Yemeni suit. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you think these two garments of yours will admit you into Paradise?" He said: O Messenger of Allah, if you pray for forgiveness for me, I will not even sit down until I have taken them off. At that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, forgive Damrah bin Tha'labah." So he hurried off until he had taken off both garments.
