Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a man from Banu Sa'd bin Bakr came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had been nursed among them. He said: O son of Abd al-Muttalib. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have heard you." He said: I am the delegate of my people and their envoy, and I will ask you and be harsh in my questioning, and I will adjure you and be stern in my adjuring, so do not be angry with me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: Tell me, who is the Creator of the heavens, the earth, Paradise and Hell? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic." He said: I adjure you by Him: Is it He who sent you with what your letter and your messengers brought us, that we should bear witness that there is no true god except Allah, and that we should abandon al-Lat and al-Uzza? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: I adjure you: Is it He who commanded you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes. He said: Your letter and your messengers brought us that we should offer five prayers every day and night. I adjure you: Is it He who commanded you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: Your letter and your messengers brought us that we should fast for one month every year. I adjure you: Is it He who commanded you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: Your letter and your messengers brought us that we should perform Hajj to His House in Dhu al-Hijjah. I adjure you: Is it He who commanded you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: These are five, and I will not add anything to them. When he turned his back to leave, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Listen, if he does what he has said, he will enter Paradise."
