It is narrated from Sa'id bin al-Musayyib that a woman whose husband had been killed came to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him to give her inheritance from the blood money of her husband. He said: I do not know of anything for you. Then he called out to the people, asking that whoever had any knowledge from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) should stand up. So Sayyiduna al-Dahhak bin Sufyan al-Kilabi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote to me that I should give the wife of Ashyam al-Dibabi inheritance from the blood money of her husband." So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave her the inheritance.
