حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِرْقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصَفَّى، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْعَطَّارُ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ لُقْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، رَفَعَهُ قَالَ: «إِذَا أَرَادَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا عَسَّلَهُ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ» . قِيلَ: مَا عَسَّلَهُ؟ قَالَ: «يَرْزُقُهُ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, intends good for a servant, He sweetens him before his death." It was asked: What is meant by sweetening him? He said: "He grants him the ability to do a righteous deed before his death."
