حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا زُهَيْرٌ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ، وَقَدْ حَكَّ فِي صَدْرِي مِنَ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّهُ قَدْ حَكَّ فِي صَدْرِي مِنَ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ شَيْءٌ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، «أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ إِذَا كُنَّا سَفَرًا، أَوْ مُسَافِرِينَ أَنْ لَا نَنْزِعَ أَوْ نَخْلَعَ خِفَافَنَا ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَلَيَالِيَهُنَّ مِنْ غَائِطٍ، وَلَا بَوْلٍ، وَلَا نَوْمٍ إِلَّا الْجَنَابَةَ» ، وَإِنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ، فَجَعَلَ يُنَادِيهِ بِصَوْتٍ لَهُ جَهْوَرِيٌّ، أَيَا مُحَمَّدُ، أَيَا مُحَمَّدُ. فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: وَيْحَكَ اخْفِضْ - أَوِ اغْضُضْ - مِنْ صَوْتِكَ، فَإِنَّكَ قَدْ نُهِيتَ مِنْ هَذَا، قَالَ: لَا وَاللهِ حَتَّى أَسْمَعَهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ: «هَاؤُمُ» . قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتَ رَجُلًا أَحَبَّ قَوْمًا، وَلَمْ يَلْحَقْ بِهِمْ؟ قَالَ: «ذَلِكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ، الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ»
Zirr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I came to Sayyiduna Safwan bin Assal (may Allah be pleased with him) while there was some doubt in my heart about wiping over the leather socks. I said: "I have some doubt about wiping over the leather socks." He said: "Yes, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to order us, when we were on a journey or travelling, not to take off our leather socks for three days and nights, not for defecation, nor for urination, nor for sleep, except for major ritual impurity (janabah)." And a Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and began calling out in a loud voice: "O Muhammad, O Muhammad!" We said to him: "Woe to you, lower your voice; you have been forbidden from this." He said: "No, by Allah, not until he hears me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, listen." He asked: "What do you say about a man who loves a people but has not joined them?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He will be with the one he loves; a person is with the one he loves."
