Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 7207 — from his father, Sayyiduna al-Sharid

Amr bin al-Sharid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna al-Sharid (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you have any of the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi al-Salt?" I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite." So I recited a verse to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying: "Recite," and I kept reciting, until I had recited a hundred verses to him (peace and blessings be upon him).
