Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 7206 — from his father, Sayyiduna al-Sharid

Amr bin al-Sharid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, Sayyiduna al-Sharid (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had me ride behind him, then he said: "Do you remember anything of the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi al-Salt?" I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite." So I recited to him (peace and blessings be upon him) a hundred verses or rhymes, and every time I reached the end of a verse or rhyme, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: "Recite."
