حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَا: ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أنا سُلَيْمَانُ التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِقَصْعَةٍ مِنْ ثَرِيدٍ، فَوُضِعَتْ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الْقَوْمِ، فَتَعَاقَبُوهَا إِلَى الظُّهْرِ مِنْ غُدْوَةٍ يَقُومُ قَوْمٌ، وَيَجْلِسُ آخَرُونَ» فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لِسَمُرَةَ: أَكَانَتْ تُمَدُّ؟ فَقَالَ سَمُرَةُ: «مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تَعْجَبُ؟ مَا كَانَتْ تُمَدُّ إِلَّا مِنْ هَهُنَا، وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that a large bowl of tharid was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). It was placed before the people, and they kept coming to it in turns from morning until Zuhr, some people getting up and others sitting down. A man asked Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him): Was it being replenished? Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: What are you amazed at? It was replenished only from here, and he pointed with his hand towards the sky.
