حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ: «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضَرَبَ مَثَلَ الْمُهَجِّرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ كَالنَّاحِرِ بَدَنَةً، وَكَذَابِحِ الْبَقَرَةِ، وَكَذَابِحِ الشَّاةِ، وَكَذَابِحِ الطَّيْرِ، حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى الْعُصْفُورَةِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the example of one who goes early on the day of Jumu'ah: like one who sacrifices a camel, then like one who slaughters a cow, then like one who slaughters a sheep, then like one who slaughters a bird, until he ended with (one who slaughters) a sparrow.
