Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 6801 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Every boy

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «كُلُّ غُلَامٍ رَهْنٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ، يُذْبَحُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ سَابِعِهِ، ويُلَطَّخُ رَأْسُهُ , وَيُسَمَّى»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every boy is held in pledge for his aqiqah; (an animal) should be slaughtered on his behalf on the seventh day, his head should be smeared (with blood), and he should be given a name."
