Samurah bin Miyar Abu Mahdhurah al-Jumahi (may Allah be pleased with him), the muezzin of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he is Samurah bin Miyar bin Wahb bin Dumus bin Sad bin Jumah; his name is disputed, and Ibn al-Kalbi said his name was Aws bin Miyar
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 6716 — Abu Mahdhurah had a lock of hair

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ مَجْزَأَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا مَحْذُورَةَ، كَانَتْ لَهُ قُصَّةٌ فِي مُقَدَّمِ رَأْسَهِ , إِذَا قَعَدَ أَرْسَلَهَا، فَتَبْلُغُ الْأَرْضَ، فَقَالُوا لَهُ: أَلَا تَحْلِقُهَا؟ فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ عَلَيْهَا بِيَدِهِ فَلَمْ أَكُنْ لِأَحْلِقَهَا حَتَّى أَمُوتَ، فَلَمْ يَحْلِقْهَا حَتَّى مَاتَ»
Safiyyah bint Majza'ah narrates that Abu Mahdhurah (may Allah be pleased with him) had a lock of hair on the front part of his head; when he sat down he would let it loose and it would reach the ground. People said to him: "Why do you not shave it off?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his blessed hand over it, so I will not shave it off until I die." And indeed he did not shave it off until he died.
