Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 6549 — When I came with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ، عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّتِهِ، فَسَأَلَ النَّاسَ: «بِمَ أَحْرَمْتُمْ؟» قَالَ نَاسٌ: أَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ، وَقَالَ آخَرُونَ: قَدِمْنَا مُتَمَتِّعِينَ، وَقَالَ آخَرُونَ: أَهْلَلْنَا بِإِهْلَالِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ كَانَ قَدِمَ وَلَمْ يَسُقْ هَدْيًا فَلْيَحْلِلْ، فَإِنِّي لَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ لَمْ أَسُقِ الْهَدْيَ حَتَّى أَكُونَ حَلَالًا» ، فَقَالَ لَهُ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , عُمْرَتُنَا هَذِهِ لِعَامِنَا؟ أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ قَالَ: «لَا، بَلْ لِلْأَبَدِ»
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When I came with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on his (peace and blessings be upon him) Hajj, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the people: "For what did you enter ihram?" Some people said: We entered ihram for Hajj; others said: We came performing tamattu'; and others said: O Messenger of Allah, we entered ihram as you entered ihram. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has arrived and has not brought a sacrificial animal (hady), let him come out of ihram. For had I known beforehand what I came to know afterwards, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal, so that I too would be out of ihram." Upon this Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, is this Umrah of ours for this year only, or forever? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather forever."
