Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 6385 — he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ أَبِي زُهَيْرٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَنِ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ زَرْعًا وَلَا ضَرْعًا نَقُصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ» ، قَالَ السَّائِبُ: أَيْ سُفْيَانَ، أَسَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: إِي وَرَبِّ الْكَعْبَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Abi Zuhayr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever keeps a dog that is of no use to him for crops or for livestock, a qirat is deducted from his deeds every day." Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "O Sufyan! Did you hear this yourself from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said: "Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah."
