Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 5921 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُسْتَمِرِّ الْعُرُوقِيُّ، ثنا حَاتِمُ بْنُ عَبَّادِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ الْحَرَشِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْكِنْدِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «نِيَّةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ، وَعَمَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ نِيَّتِهِ، وَكُلٌّ يَعْمَلُ عَلَى نِيَّتِهِ، فَإِذَا عَمِلَ الْمُؤْمِنُ عَمَلًا نَارَ فِي قَلْبِهِ نُورٌ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The intention of the believer is better than his deed, and the deed of the hypocrite is better than his intention, and everyone acts according to his intention. When the believer does a deed, a light shines in his heart."
