Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 5922 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: You will

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِهَابٍ، ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَرَشِيُّ، ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَتَتَّبِعُنَّ سُنَنَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ، شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ، وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ، حَتَّى لَوْ دَخَلُوا جُحْرَ ضَبٍّ لَاتَّبَعْتُمُوهُمْ» ، قُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى؟ قَالَ: «فَمَنْ إِلَّا الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will surely follow the ways of those who came before you, span by span and cubit by cubit, so that even if they entered a lizard's hole, you would follow them into it." We said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you mean the Jews and the Christians? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who else, if not the Jews and the Christians?"
