Abu Hazim relates that the people asked Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him): What was the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made of? He said: "There is no one left among the people who knows more about it than I do. It was made of the tamarisk wood of al-Ghabah; so-and-so, the slave of such-and-such a woman, made it. And I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): when he climbed onto it, he faced the qiblah and said the takbir, then recited, then bowed, then stepped down backwards and prostrated, then climbed up, then recited, then bowed, then stepped down backwards, then prostrated."
