Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 4578 — from his father, who said: A man

Ibn Ibad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, who said: A man from Banu Layth came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I recite poetry to you? He said this three times, then the fourth time he recited poetry in his (peace and blessings be upon him) praise. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If any of the poets can compose well, then you have composed well."
