حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرٍ الْحِزَامِيُّ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ بُكَيْرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عِبَادٍ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ أَبَا لَهَبٍ بِعُكَاظٍ وَهُوَ يَتْبَعُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ هَذَا قَدْ غَوَى فَلَا يُغْوِيَنَّكُمْ عَنْ مَآثِرِ آبَائِكُمْ، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْعَى وَهُوَ عَلَى أَثَرِهِ وَنَحْنُ نَتْبَعُهُ، كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ أَحْوَلُ ذُو غَدِيرَتَيْنِ أَبْيَضُ النَّاسِ وَأَجْمَلُهُ "
Sayyiduna Rabi'ah bin Ibad (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw Abu Lahab at Ukaz; he was following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and saying: O people, this man has gone astray, so do not let him lead you astray from the traditions of your forefathers. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was walking quickly ahead while he kept on his trail, and we were following him. It is as if I am still looking at him: cross-eyed, with two braids, the fairest and most handsome of people.
