حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْعَلَّافُ، قَالَا: ثنا، سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا، ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، أَخْبَرَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ عِبَادٍ الدِّيلِيُّ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ بِسُوقِ ذِي الْمَجَازِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قُولُوا: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ تُفْلِحُوا " فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُرَدِّدُهَا مِرَارًا وَالنَّاسُ مُتَصَفُّونَ عَلَيْهِ يَتَّبِعُونَهُ، وَإِذَا وَرَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ أَحْوَلُ ذُو غَدِيرَتَيْنِ وَضِيءُ الْوَجْهِ يَقُولُ: إِنَّهُ صَابِئٌ كَاذِبٌ، مَرَّتَيْنِ فَسَأَلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا فَقَالُوا: هَذَا عَمُّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ
Sayyiduna Rabi'ah bin Ibad al-Dili (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the time of ignorance (Jahiliyyah) in the market of Dhul-Majaz, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: "O people, say: There is no true god except Allah, and you will be successful." He (peace and blessings be upon him) kept repeating this again and again, and the people were crowding around him (peace and blessings be upon him) and following him (peace and blessings be upon him). Behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) was a cross-eyed man with two braids and a handsome face, saying: He is a liar and a renegade - twice. So I asked: Who is this? The people said: This is his uncle, Abu Lahab.
