Ubayd bin Rifa'ah al-Zuraqi (may Allah have mercy on him) relates from his father: On the day of Uhud, when the polytheists had turned back, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Form rows so that I may praise my Lord." The narrator said: So they stood behind him (peace and blessings be upon him) in rows, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, to You belongs all praise. None can withhold what You have spread out, and none can spread out what You have withheld; none can guide the one whom You have sent astray, and none can send astray the one whom You have guided; none can bring near what You have put far, and none can put far what You have brought near; none can give what You have withheld, and none can withhold what You have given. O Allah, spread over us Your blessings, Your mercy, Your bounty and Your provision. O Allah, I ask You for lasting bliss on the day of want, and safety on the day of fear. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the evil of what You have given us and the evil of what You have withheld from us. O Allah, cause us to die as Muslims and join us with the righteous, neither disgraced nor put to trial. O Allah, fight the disbelievers who turn people away from Your path and deny Your messengers. O Allah, fight the disbelievers who were given the Book, O God of truth!"
