Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 4511 — from his uncle that a man entered

Ali bin Yahya bin Khallad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his uncle that a man entered the mosque while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting. He prayed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to pray again, so he repeated it two or three times. He said: O Messenger of Allah, after two or three times I have spared no effort in completing my prayer. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prayer of no person is complete until he performs ablution, making the water reach its proper places, then says: Allahu Akbar, then praises and extols Allah Almighty and recites whatever is easy from the Qur'an, then says takbir until his joints are at rest, then says: Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears the one who praises Him), until he stands up straight, then says takbir and prostrates until his joints are at rest, then raises his head until he sits upright, then prostrates until his joints are at rest. If he does not do this, his prayer will not be complete."
