حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُصَيْنٍ الْقَاضِي، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا مِنْدَلُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، وَحَمَّادُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْحِمَّانِيُّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ، فَأَصَابَ النَّاسَ جُوعٌ فَأَصَبْنَا إِبِلًا وَغَنَمًا، وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أُخْرَيَاتِ النَّاسِ، فَعَجِلَ سَرَعَانُ النَّاسِ، فَذَبَحُوا وَنَحَرُوا وَنَصَبُوا الْقُدُورَ، فَدَفَعَ إِلَيْهِمُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْقُدُورُ تَغْلِي، فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَأُكْفِئَتْ ثُمَّ قَسَمَ، فَعَدَلَ عَشَرَةً مِنَ الْغَنَمِ بِبَعِيرٍ، فَنَدَّ بَعِيرٌ فَطَلَبُوهُ فَأَعْيَاهُمْ فَأَهْوَى لَهُ رَجُلٌ بِسَهْمٍ فَحَبَسَهُ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ .
Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at Dhu al-Hulayfah. The people were hungry, and we obtained camels and sheep. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at the rear of the people. The hasty ones among the people quickly slaughtered sheep and camels and set the pots on the fire. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached them, the pots were boiling. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the order, and they were overturned. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) divided (the spoils) and counted ten sheep as equal to one camel. Then a camel bolted; the people tried to catch it but it wore them out, so a man shot an arrow at it and stopped it - then the narrator narrated the like of it.
