حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ ذَرٍّ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: جَاءَنَا رَافِعٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ أَمْرٍ كَانَ يَرْفُقُ بِنَا، وَطَاعَةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْفَقُ بِنَا، نَهَانَا أَنْ نَزْرَعَ أَرْضًا إِلَّا أَرْضًا يَمْلِكُ أَحَدُنَا رَقَبَتَهَا أَوْ مَنِيحَةً يَمْنَحُهَا رَجُلٌ»
Ibn Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father; he said: Sayyiduna Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from something that was a convenience for us, whereas obedience to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is a greater convenience for us. He (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from cultivating any land except land whose ownership belongs to one of us, or a gift that a man gives (to another)."
