Dhu al-Lihyah al-Kilabi (may Allah be pleased with him): Amr bin Qurt bin Abi Bakr bin Abdullah bin Kilab
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 4221 — he said: O Messenger of Allah, are we

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، ثنا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَدَّادُ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ ذِي اللِّحْيَةِ الْكِلَابِيِّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَعْمَلُ فِي أَمْرٍ مُسْتَأْنَفٍ أَوْ أَمْرٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ؟ قَالَ: «لَا بَلْ فِي أَمْرٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ» قَالَ: فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ؟ قَالَ: «اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhu al-Lihyah al-Kilabi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: O Messenger of Allah, are we acting in a matter that is newly begun, or in a matter that has already been settled? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather in a matter that has already been settled." He said: Then why act? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Act, for each person is made easy for that for which he was created."
