حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمُّويَهِ أَبُو سَيَّارٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا شَبَّابٌ الْعُصْفُرِيُّ، ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ الْعَدَوِيُّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ ذِي اللِّحْيَةِ الْكِلَابِيِّ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَعْمَلُ فِي أَمْرٍ مُسْتَأْنَفٍ أَوْ أَمْرٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ؟ قَالَ: «بَلْ فِي أَمْرٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ» قَالَ: فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ؟ قَالَ: «اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhu al-Lihyah al-Kilabi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Are we acting in a matter that is newly begun, or in a matter that has already been settled? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, in a matter that has already been settled." He said: Then why act? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Act, for each person is made easy for that for which he was created."
