حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَسَكَتْنَا، فَقَالَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَسَكَتَ ثُمَّ قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ، فَقَدْ قَرَأَ بِثُلُثِ الْقُرْآنِ» .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is any one of you unable to recite one third of the Qur'an in a night?" We remained silent. He said this three times and (each time) fell silent, then he said: "Whoever recites 'Say: He is Allah, the One' at night has recited one third of the Qur'an."
