Sayyiduna Husayn bin Wahwah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when Sayyiduna Talhah bin al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: O Messenger of Allah, command me with whatever you wish; I will not disobey any command of yours. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was amazed at this, as he was still a boy, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Go and kill your father." The narrator said: He turned and set off to do so, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) called him back and said: "Come back, for I was not sent to sever the ties of kinship." After that Talhah fell ill, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit him in winter, in cold and cloudy weather. When he was leaving, he said to Talhah's family: "I see Talhah only as someone near death, so inform me so that I may attend him and lead his funeral prayer, and be quick." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had not yet reached (on his way back) Banu Salim bin Awf when Talhah died, and night came over him. Among what Talhah had said was: Bury me and join me to my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, and do not call the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), for I fear that the Jews may harm him because of me. When morning came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) came and stood at his grave, and the people formed rows with him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands and said: "O Allah, meet Talhah while he is smiling before You."
