حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ، وَأَبُو زَيْدٍ الْحَوْطِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنِي صَالِحُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو جُمُعَةَ، قَالَ: تَغَدَّيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَحَدٌ خَيْرٌ مِنَّا أَسْلَمْنَا مَعَكَ؟، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، قَوْمٌ يَكُونُونَ مِنْ بَعْدِكُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِي وَلَمْ يَرَوْنِي»
Sayyiduna Abu Jum'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We ate a meal with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with us. He said: O Messenger of Allah, is there anyone better than us, who believed with you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, people who will come after you, who will believe in me although they will not have seen me."
