حَدَّثَنَا أَسْلَمُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّائِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «اجْتَمِعُوا أُصَلِّي بِكُمْ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» . فَاجْتَمَعُوا، فَقَالَ: أَفِيكُمْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ؟ قَالُوا: لَا إِلَّا ابْنَ أُخْتٍ لَنَا. قَالَ: ابْنُ أُخْتِ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ. «فَدَعَا بِجَفْنَةٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهَا، فَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ، وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَيَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَظَهْرِ قَدَمَيْهِ، وَتَقَدَّمَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمُ الظُّهْرَ، فَقَرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ يُسْمِعُ مَنْ يَلِيهِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he said: "Gather together, and I will lead you in prayer the way the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed." So the people gathered, and he asked: Is there anyone among you who is not one of you (from this tribe)? They said: No, except a son of one of our sisters. He said: The son of the people's sister is one of them. Then he called for a vessel and performed ablution from it: he rinsed his mouth and sniffed water into his nose, washed his face three times and his hands three times, wiped his head and the tops of his feet, then stepped forward and led them in the Zuhr prayer, and he recited Surah al-Fatihah loudly enough for those standing near him to hear.
