Abdullah bin Rafi' (may Allah have mercy on him), the freed slave of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), said: I asked Sayyiduna al-Hajjaj bin Amr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) about someone who is prevented (from completing his pilgrimage) while in the state of ihram, and he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever becomes lame, or suffers a broken bone, or falls ill, or is prevented, should perform the like of it (the Hajj or Umrah again), and he has come out of ihram." Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I related this to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas and Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them), and they both said: He has spoken the truth.
