حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّزَّالَ بْنَ سَبْرَةَ قَالَ: سَأَلْنَا أَبَا مَسْعُودٍ مَا قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ؟ قَالَ: قَالَ: «أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ صَبَاحٍ إِلَى النَّارِ، اشْتَرُوا لِي ثَوْبَيْنِ أَبْيَضَيْنِ فَكَفِّنُونِي فِيهِمَا، فَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يُتْرَكَا عَلَيَّ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا حَتَّى أُكْسَى خَيْرًا مِنْهُمَا، أَوْ أُسْلَبَهُمَا سَلْبًا سَرِيعًا»
Al-Nazzal bin Sabrah narrates: We asked Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) what Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said at the time of his death. He said that Hudhayfah said: "I seek refuge with Allah from a morning that leads to the Fire. Buy two white garments for me and shroud me in them, for they will remain on me only a little while; then either I will be clothed in something better than them, or they will be stripped from me very quickly."
