حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا ذُؤَيْبُ بْنُ عِمَامَةَ السَّهْمِيُّ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: افْتَقَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، قَالَ: «أَيْنَ كُنْتَ؟ فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَرَكَ؟ أَلَمْ تَشْهَدِ الصَّلَاةَ؟» قَالَ: بَلَى. وَلَكِنِّي جِئْتُ وَقَدْ ثَبَتَ النَّاسُ، وَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَتَخَطَّى رِقَابَ النَّاسِ، قَالَ: «أَحْسَنْتَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) missed one of his Companions and said: "Where were you? I did not see you. Did you not attend the prayer?" He said: Of course I did, but I came when the people had already settled in their rows, and I disliked stepping over the people's necks. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You did well."
