حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ مُرَّةَ أَنَّ حَسَنًا وَحُسَيْنًا أَقْبَلَا يَمْشِيَانِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَحَدُهُمَا جَعَلَ يَدَهُ فِي عُنُقِهِ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ الْآخَرُ فَجَعَلَ يَدَهُ الْأُخْرَى فِي عُنُقِهِ، فَقَبَّلَ هَذَا، ثُمَّ قَبَّلَ هَذَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أُحِبُّهُمَا فَأَحِبَّهُمَا، أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ الْوَلَدَ مَبْخَلَةٌ مَجْبَنَةٌ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna al-Hasan and Sayyiduna al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) came walking towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When one of them arrived, he (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand around his neck; then the other came and he put his other hand around his neck. Then he kissed this one, then he kissed that one, then said: "O Allah, I love them both, so love them both. O people, children are a cause of miserliness and cowardice."
