Sayyidah Umm Tariq (may Allah be pleased with her), the freedwoman of Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and asked permission, but Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) kept silent. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked permission again, and Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) again kept silent, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went away. She said: Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me to him (peace and blessings be upon him) with this message: Nothing prevented us from giving you permission except that we wanted you to grant us more (greetings of peace). She said: I heard a voice at the door asking permission, but I could not see anything. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who are you?" It said: I am Umm Mildam (fever). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Neither welcome nor greeting. Are you heading as a gift to the people of Quba'?" It said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then go to them."
