Abd al-Malik bin Umayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Amir al-Sha'bi, from Sayyidah Fatimah bint Qays al-Fihriyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) it was announced: The prayer in congregation (is about to begin)! So we went out and sat behind the shoulders of the men. She said: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended the pulpit, praised Allah and extolled Him, and then said: "Listen, your brother Tamim al-Dari has told me about some of his cousins who sailed on the sea, and the wind carried them off until it forced them to take refuge on one of the islands of the sea. They went out to ask about the way, and they met a creature among the creatures of Allah, bigger than anything they had seen before; there was nothing on it of what the children of Adam weave, and hair covered it. They said: We asked it about the way, and it said: If you want to ask about the way from someone who will tell you and who longs to hear your talk, then go to this monastery. We said: Tell us, what are you? She said: I am al-Dassasah. So we knew that she was a woman. Then we went to the monastery and entered it, and there was a creature bigger than any we had ever seen; from his collarbones to his ankles he was filled with iron, and his eye was blotted out. We asked him about the way, and he said: I will not tell you anything until you tell me what I ask you. We said: Ask whatever you wish. He said: Tell me about the Prophet of the Arabs: has he appeared? We said: Yes. He said: To what does he call? So we told him. He said: How quickly do the people come to what he calls them to? We said: Quickly. He said: That is better for them. He said: Tell me about the lake of Tiberias: what is its state? We said: It is overflowing. He said: Tell me about the spring of Zughar. We said: It is overflowing. He said: Ask whatever you wish. We said to him: What are you? He said: I am the Dajjal. By the One in whose hand my soul is, no land of Allah's earth will remain without my treading upon it with these two feet of mine, except Taybah." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is Taybah", meaning Madinah.
