Dawud bin Abi Hind (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Amir al-Sha'bi, from Sayyidah Fatimah bint Qays al-Fihriyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came quickly one day until he ascended the pulpit, and it was announced among the people: The prayer in congregation (is about to begin)! Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed them and said: "I have not called you because of something to hope for or something to fear that has come down; rather, Tamim al-Dari has told me that some people of Palestine sailed on the sea, and the wind cast them onto one of the islands of the sea. There they came across a very hairy beast; we could not tell whether it was male or female, because of the abundance of its hair. They said: What are you? It said: I am al-Jassasah. They said: Then tell us something. It said: I will neither give you news nor ask you for news; but in this monastery there is a man who is intensely eager to give you news and for you to ask him for news. So they entered the monastery, and there was a man shackled in iron. They said: Who are you? He said: Who are you? They said: We are of the Arabs. He said: Has the Prophet appeared among you? They said: Yes. He said: Then have the Arabs followed him? They said: Yes. He said: Listen, that is better for them. He said: Has he prevailed over Persia? They said: No. He said: Listen, soon he will prevail over them. Then he said: What is the state of the spring of Zughar? They said: It is full and overflowing. He said: What is the state of the lake of Tiberias? They said: It is full and overflowing. He said: What is the state of the date palms of Baysan? They said: They have given their first fruit. At this he leapt up, so much that they thought he would break free of his chains, and he said to them: I am the Dajjal. Listen, I will tread over the whole earth except Makkah and Taybah." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rejoice!" (thus he gave the Muslims glad tidings) "This is Taybah; he will not be able to enter it."
