Amir al-Sha'bi said: I visited Fatimah bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her), and she offered me fresh dates from the dates of Ibn Talib, and I ate. Then she said: I was sitting in the mosque when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and sat on the pulpit, and the people gathered around him. Fatimah said: And I supplicated so that I might hear, and I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "O people! I have not gathered you because of news that has come to me from any enemy of yours; rather, Tamim al-Dari has told me that some of his cousins sailed on the sea, and a wind struck them so that they did not know whether they had gone east or west. They anchored at an island and began walking on it, and they came across a beast dragging its hair. They said: What is this? It said: I am al-Jassasah. They said: Then what is the news? It said: The news is with the master of the monastery. So they went to the monastery, and there they saw the Dajjal and recognised him; he was bound in iron. He said: Who are you? They said: We are of the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: Has he been sent? They said: Yes. He said: What is the state of the lake of Tiberias? They told him about it. He said: What is the state of the date palms of Baysan? They told him about them. He said: What is the state of the spring of Zughar? They told him about it. Then he pointed to his two feet and said: You see these two feet of mine; no land of Allah's earth will remain without my treading upon it with them, except Makkah and Taybah. And he is in the sea between the east and the west, and he is nearer to the east." And the wording of both narrators is the same.
