Al-Shaybani (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from al-Sha'bi, from Sayyidah Fatimah bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The people in Madinah were free of fear when suddenly the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and led the Zuhr prayer; then he walked forward until he ascended the pulpit, and the people became frightened by this. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw this on their faces, he said: "O people! I have not come out for a matter that would frighten you; rather, news has come to me which has made me glad, so I wished to tell you of your Prophet's joy. Tamim al-Dari has told me that some of his cousins sailed on the sea, and their ship reached an island which they did not recognise. They went out walking, and they came across a human being about whom they did not know whether it was male or female, because of the abundance of hair. They asked: Who are you? It said: I am al-Jassasah. They said: Then tell us something. It said: Go to the monastery; in it there is a man who is intensely eager for you to talk to him. So they entered the monastery, and there was a man in chains, groaning severely. He asked: Who are you? They said: Of the people of Palestine, of the Arabian Peninsula. He said: Has their Prophet come out yet? They said: Yes. He said: Then what has he done? They said: Some people gave him the pledge of allegiance, and some abandoned him; so with the help of those of his companions who had pledged allegiance he fought, until he gained mastery over (all) the people of stone and clay. He said: What is the state of the lake of Tiberias? They said: It is full; its banks are overflowing. He said: What is the state of the spring of Zughar? They said: Its banks are overflowing. He said: What is the state of the date palms between Amman and Baysan? They said: They bear fruit. He said: If I were freed from this bondage of mine, I would tread over every part of the earth, except Taybah." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is Taybah" (twice), "In Madinah there is no road, no narrow or wide place, no easy or difficult place, without an angel stationed over it with a drawn sword; if he (the Dajjal) wanted to enter it, he would strike his face with the sword." Amir said: Then I met Muharrar bin Abi Hurayrah and narrated this to him, and he asked: Was anything added to it? I said: No. He said: She spoke the truth. I bear witness that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith to me, and he added something more to it: then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The sea of Syria, what is it? The sea of Iraq, what is it?" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed with his hand twenty times towards the east. Then I met Abdullah bin Abi Bakr and narrated this to him, and he asked: Did she tell you anything additional in it? I said: No. He said: She spoke the truth. I bear witness that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated this hadith to me, but she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And in Madinah, whatever is in it."
