حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، وَيُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، قَالَا: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَهْمِ، قَالَ: جِئْتُ أَنَا وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ أُخْتِ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، وَقَدْ أَخْرَجَتْ بِنْتَ أَخِيهَا ظُهْرًا، فَقُلْتُ: مَا حَمَلَكِ عَلَى هَذَا؟ قَالَتْ: كَانَ زَوْجِي أَبُو حَفْصِ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ مَعَ عَيَّاشِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ بِطَلَاقِي ثَلَاثًا، وَبَعَثَ إِلَيَّ بِخَمْسَةِ أُصْعٍ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، وَخَمْسَةِ أُصْعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ، فَقُلْتُ: وَمَا لِي نَفَقَةٌ إِلَّا هَذَا؟ فَجَمَعْتُ عَلِيَّ ثِيَابِي، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «كَمْ طَلَّقَكِ؟» قُلْتُ: ثَلَاثًا، قَالَ: «فَإِنَّهُ صَدَقَ لَا نَفَقَةَ لَكِ، وَاعْتَدِّي فِي بَيْتِ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ تَضَعِي عَنْكِ ثِيَابَكِ»
Abu Bakr bin Abi al-Jahm (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman and I came to Sayyidah Fatimah bint Qays (may Allah be pleased with her), the sister of al-Dahhak bin Qays, and she had taken her niece out (of her house) at the time of Zuhr. I said: "What led you to do this?" She said: "My husband Abu Hafs bin al-Mughirah sent me word of my three divorces with Ayyash bin Abi Rabi'ah, and he sent me five sa' of barley and five sa' of dates. I said: 'Is this all the maintenance I get?' So I gathered my clothes about me and came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: 'How many times did he divorce you?' I said: 'Three.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Then he has spoken the truth; you are not entitled to maintenance. Spend your waiting period in the house of Ibn Umm Maktum; there you can take off your outer garments.'"
