حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُعَلَّى بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، ثنا حِصْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ السُّلَمِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَزْءٍ، يَقُولُ: أَنْبَأَنِي حِبَّانُ بْنُ جَزْءٍ، عَنْ جُزْءٍ، أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَسِيرٍ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ صَحَابَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانُوا أَسَرُوهُ وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ، ثُمَّ أَسْلَمُوا، فَأَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَاكَ الْأَسِيرِ، فَكَسَا جُزْءًا بُرْدَيْنِ وَأَسْلَمَ جُزْءٌ عِنْدَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ادْخُلْ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ تُعْطِيكَ مِنَ الْأَبْرُدِ الَّتِي عِنْدَهَا بُرْدَيْنِ» فَدَخَلَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَقَالَ: أَيْ نَضَّرَكِ اللهُ اخْتَارِي لِي مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأَبْرُدِ الَّتِي عِنْدَكَ بُرْدَيْنِ، فَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَسَانِي مِنْهَا بُرْدَيْنِ، فَقَالَتْ ومَدَّتْ سِوَاكًا مِنْ أَرَاكٍ طَوِيلًا، فَقَالَتْ خُذْ هَذَا وَخُذْ هَذَا، وَكَانَتْ نِسَاءُ الْعَرَبِ حِينَئِذٍ لَا يُرَيْنَ
Sayyiduna Juz' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he brought a captive who was with him, one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) - his people had captured him while they themselves were polytheists, then they accepted Islam - so they brought that captive to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) clothed Juz' with two cloaks, and Juz' accepted Islam in his presence. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go to Aishah; she will give you two cloaks from the cloaks she has." So he went to the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and said: May Allah keep you radiant, choose two cloaks for me from these cloaks that you have, for the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has clothed me with two cloaks from them. She held out a long tooth-stick (miswak) of arak wood and said: Take this, and take this. At that time Arab women were not seen (before non-mahram men).
