حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَرِيفٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا ضِرَارُ بْنُ صُرَدٍ، قَالَا: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُيَسَّرٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ فَيْرُوزَ، عَنْ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتِ مُسْرِحٍ، قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَضَرَ فَاطِمَةَ حِينَ ضَرَبَهَا الْمَخَاضُ فِي نِسْوَةٍ، قَالَتْ: فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «كَيْفَ هِيَ؟» قُلْنَا: إِنَّهَا لَتَجْهَدُ، قَالَ: «إِذَا هِيَ وَضَعَتْ فَلَا تَسْبِقِينِي فِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ» قَالَتْ: فَوَضَعَتْ فَلَفَفْتُهُ فِي خِرْقَةٍ صَفْرَاءَ وحَنَّكْتُهُ، فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «كَيْفَ هِيَ؟» قُلْتُ: قَدْ وَضَعَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ولَفَفْتُهُ فِي خِرْقَةٍ وحَنَّكْتُهُ، قَالَتْ: فَقَالَ: «قَدْ عَصَيْتِينِي» قُلْتُ: أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ، وَمَعْصِيَةِ رَسُولِهِ حَنَّكْتُهُ، ولَفَفْتُهُ، وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بُدًّا، قَالَ: " ائْتِينِي بِهِ فَأَلْقَى عَنْهُ الْخِرْقَةَ الصَّفْرَاءَ، ولَفَّهُ فِي خِرْقَةٍ بَيْضَاءَ، وَتَفَلَ فِي فِيهِ، وألْبَاهُ بَرِيقِهِ فَجَاءَ عَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ: «مَا سَمَّيْتُهُ يَا عَلِيُّ؟» قَالَ: أَسْمَيْتُهُ جَعْفَرًا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: «لَا، وَلَكِنَّهُ حَسَنٌ، وَبَعْدَهُ حُسَيْنٌ، وَأَنْتَ أَبُو حَسَنِ الْخَيْرِ»
Sayyidah Sawdah bint Misrah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I was among the women who were present with Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) when her labour pains began. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and said: "How is she?" We said: She is in severe pain. He ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "When she gives birth, do not go ahead of me in anything concerning it." Then she gave birth, and I wrapped him in a yellow cloth and gave him tahnik. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and said: "How is she?" I said: O Messenger of Allah, she has given birth; I wrapped him in a cloth and gave him tahnik. He ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "You have disobeyed me." I said: I seek refuge with Allah from disobeying Allah and His Messenger; I only gave him tahnik and wrapped him, and I found no way around that. He ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "Bring him to me." So he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) removed the yellow cloth from him, wrapped him in a white cloth, put his saliva into his mouth, and gave him tahnik with his saliva. Just then Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and he ((peace and blessings be upon him)) asked: "O Ali, what have you named him?" He said: O Messenger of Allah, I have named him Ja'far. He ((peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "No, rather he is Hasan, and after him will be Husayn, and you are Abu Hasan al-Khayr."
